Welcome to Light Vortex Astronomy 2.0!

It is my great pleasure to invite you to my new website, the Light Vortex Astronomy you already know, but version 2.0. Light Vortex Astronomy is technically no longer just a blog - it is a full-blown website. As you may have already noticed, the default landing page is the Blog page. This keeps with tradition and gives readers a heads-up of what is new, including new tutorials, new articles, etc. Blog posts are no longer displayed in full as you see them listed. They are listed, as this one is, with a Read More link. Ensure you click the Read More link on the post you are interested in reading.

A select few old blog posts were ported over to this new website and back-dated accordingly. As per standard, all blog posts allow readers to comment on them at the bottom. Far be it from me to have to teach you how to navigate a website, I will simply introduce various new things so that old readers know where to look for old stuff.

At the very top of the website, on every single page, you will find a set of buttons linking to Light Vortex Astronomy's Facebook page, my Twitter feed, my Flickr photostream and my e-mail address (which you are free to use to e-mail me on). You will also find the website search bar next to these buttons.

The familiar main pages to the website are kept as they were before in the old blog. In the About page, you will find a small quick message area on the right. You may use this to send me a quick message if you do not want to have to open your e-mail account/client or use Facebook, Twitter or forums I am a member of. Quick messages sent through this feature are sent to me as e-mails. If however you need to attach files or images, you will need to actually e-mail me yourself.

The Articles and Tutorials pages are now a lot tidier as well. These feature tabs to categorise articles and tutorials, respectively. Links to each article and tutorial are provided in the tables within each category tab.

As with blog posts, comments can be entered into each individual article and tutorial. You will find the comments sections at the very bottom of each article and tutorial. In the case of tutorials, the comments sections are linked from the table of contents at the top. Comments sections are only available for articles and tutorials (and on blog posts, by default).

You may quickly notice that the obsolete tutorials have disappeared and only the new ones are listed. I was strongly considering sending these to oblivion along with the old blog, but given the excessive number of readers on them, it seemed unfair. Though I do not support those obsolete tutorials, and I will be replacing them fully once I finish my PixInsight tutorial series, I did not wish to inconvenience readers from them. However, it took a very long time to port over the new tutorials from the old blog. As a result, I was not keen on doing the same for the obsolete tutorials, particularly given my plans to replace them fully in due course. I have instead copy-pasted the obsolete tutorials straight from my old blog into Microsoft Word, gave them a quick formatting check and printed them as high-quality PDF documents. The Archived tab in the Tutorials page therefore links to these obsolete tutorials. The links are downloadable PDF documents.

Rest assured these will be deleted only when there are direct replacements for them. My apologies if the PDF document format for them is not ideal, but it is all I can muster in terms of time spent to port them over.

As always, I hope you enjoy your stay at Light Vortex Astronomy. Be sure to bookmark it for future reading. If you have old bookmarks to tutorials and other pages, you will no doubt have to update them as the individual page addresses have changed.
